Leave it to Sami from Life, Laughs, and Lemmings to spearhead a kick-arse idea!
Sami has banded together a “seed crystal” of bloggers—including yours truly— who have committed to help others via Random Acts of Kick Arse (RAOKA).
A note about Sami: I found her via Lance at Jungle of Life, and she pulled me in to her world immediately. Her boundless excitement for life, contagious energy, and refusal to accept the status quo inspires me. Within a short time, her blog has become one of the first I visit when I check my RSS feeds. Thanks, Sami, for continuing to inspire others and for making this world a better place to live!
The Premise
RAOKA’s mission is to help others via positive acts of some sort.
The Details
Each month, a RAOKA theme will be announced. This month’s theme: kindness.
What does that mean? That means I’m going to be kind. It’s that simple—kind acts, big or small, for or with whomever! And, for me, ROCKA means doing kind things beyond what I’d normally do.
In November, this committed group of blogger volunteers will be reporting back, at his or her blog, the kind acts ROCKA inspired us to carry out in the month of October.
Participating bloggers will be randomly selected (by Sami with names in a hat, no…, I’m serious!) to choose a new theme each month.
I encourage you to follow along or join in and report back in the comments if you’re so inclined. Or, to be a RAOKA blogger yourself, just email anyone of us to get your name in the hat!
My Disclaimer
I’m not pushing this on you or don’t intend to be pushing this down your throat.
I simply wanted to start taking what I deeply believe up a notch and Sami got the ball rolling!
I love this idea, it RAOKAs! And I hope you’ll be inspired to show “extra” kindness this month, too. Be creative! Don’t hold back!
The Players
Here’s our initial seed-blog group, feel free to join us, comment, or participate in any way you’re drawn. Visit the sites below so you can read other’s view on the RAOKA mission at their blogs.
Brandi from Joy Rebel
Dani from Positively Present
Lance from Jungle of Life
Lori (that’s me) from Jane Be Nimble
Melissa from Operation Nice
Sami from Life, Laughs & Lemmings
And, here’s a parting question for you to consider, you never know, someone may fulfill your wish!
If you could request a kind act toward you or someone you know, on your behalf, what would it be?
Have fun everyone, and create your day! (Aren’t you glad I’m not talking about muscles today?)

Looking forward to see how this progresses. How often will you update us?
Gordie Rogers´s last blog ..Why I Spit On Those People Who Say That You Don’t Need To Go To College.
Good question! This is a fairly loose (fun) operation – but we’ve all agreed to take “notes” about kind acts during the month of October, then the first week of November, probably the 5th or 6th, we’ll each write a post about what we’ve seen/done/accomplished for the month.
I’m excited about this and looking forward to see all the magic – which has already started!
Woohoo!! Rock on! This is such a fantastic idea! And Lori, you’ll shine at RAOKA!!! You do already!!

You got it, Jay! And I know you’ll be a part of that kindness ripple. You’re the epicenter, right? The grand master?
Yeah! This is so cool and I’d like to join in on the “Kick Arseness”!
Right this moment if I could request an act of kindness on someone, it’d be my three daughters. An act that would encourage them, let them know of their great potential and that the world needs what they have to offer it!
Thanks to Brandi, Dani, Lance, Lori, Melissa and Sami for getting this going!
Blessings to you all
Hi Keith! You bet! Welcome aboard the kindness ship!
I can relate to you, Keith. I have three step-daughters – I’m not their real mom, but I love them just like they were my own. And I, too, feel that I wish I could show them the beauty I see when I look at them with my eyes. You are a great dad, Keith, I can feel it.
And, thanks for your kind wishes. Sami and her compadres are a force to be reckoned with, for sure. And that means you, too!
How incredibly cool, I love this!
@Keith, I so know that feeling, having two grown kids myself. I’ll send positive encouragement energy to your girls; may the world welcome them with open arms and gratitude!

Hayden Tompkins´s last blog ..A Call to Action
Agreed! I love the action you are taking over at your blog, too, Hayden.
I must say, you are a STRONG, BEAUTIFUL woman and I am honored to have your comment here at my site.
Rock, rock warrior! I am behind you 100%!
This is something I need to be part of. Requesting a kindness? No brainer. My mom – she is disabled and going through a lot of medical issues right now, so any kindness to her is something I will always wuish for -she deserves it.
I try to do my part -last week we did a motorcycle charity event bringig diapers and formula to th Adenullam House (they care for kids whose parents are incarcerated) and this coming weekend we are hosting a poker run to raise money for juvenile diabetes “BAD”-Bikers Against Diabetes. Should have a good turn out.
Love your site -I need all the positivity I can get so I am subscribed now!RAOKA on!:)

Lori:
Thanks for RAOKA’n the world! I will be reading everyone’s posts and trying to do my part to make the world a better place one RAOK at a time. I’ve heard the phrase used, “give till it hurts.” Well maybe its that time for me to do just that.

I love it that you visit my blog. Every time I see you I get a bolt of positive vibes. Thank you!
Thanks for doing your part to spread kindness. Knowing you, I’m sure you’ll beam laser light into the lives of others. And, I love that quote, “give till it hurts.” Honestly, that’s what I’m aiming for, too.
Thanks for sharing your positivity here, Tim. It is awesome!
Hi Lori,
I found you via Happy Lotus.
And it’s the third RAOKA post I’ve read. There’s my sign…to join in. How can I not?
The kindness from strangers has already been shown: To my future son-in-law who was denied entry into the US to marry my daughter. The Bailiff in customs allowed FSIL to use his personal cell phone to call me so he could say they put him on the return flight to Dublin. The Aer Lingus flight attendants also took great care of him and showed him compassion and kindness.
I am paying their kindness forward. Instead of canceling the 2 nights at the Bed & Breakfast for my daughter and FSIL, I am giving those nights, already paid for, to FSIL’s parents who are still flying across the pond from Ireland to attend a wedding that’s not taking place. They are still coming to the US to meet my family.
Yup…I’m on board!
Peggy @ Serendipity Smiles´s last blog ..On The Way To The Altar
Hi Peggy!
Great to have you on board and your support.
Ye-haw!!
Wow, what a story! I’m really sorry to hear that your son-in-law was denied entry to the US. With all the pain and discomfort of this world, it is incredibly encouraging to hear that others have reached out to him.
You are a kind woman, Peggy, and I am blessed to know you. Thank you for taking time to tell me your story here. And, I am full of excitement to hear what’s yet in store!
